Nutcracker Notes

Text with the journal name and an outline of a nutcracker bird

Nutcracker Notes is the biannual newsletter of the Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation. It features the latest research findings and management updates on the ecology, conservation, and restoration of whitebark pine, limber pine, and other high-elevation, five-needle pines. We also share relevant foundation news, upcoming events, and community perspectives to keep members informed of activities.

Current Issues

The latest two issues of Nutcracker Notes are only available to current members and can be accessed by logging into the online portal. All other past issues are available to the public and can be found below the submission guidelines. Join or renew your membership today to activate your digital subscription.

Submission Guidelines

We invite contributions from researchers, practitioners, students, and community members. Articles should speak to a broad audience that includes scientists, land managers, and conservationists interested in high-elevation ecosystems. Submissions should highlight new knowledge, observations, or perspectives relevant to whitebark pine, limber pine, or other high-elevation, five-needle pines.

Designed to share “on-the-ground” observations that will directly connect readers with the landscapes and challenges we care about.
