2023 Whitebark Pine Student Research Grants

The Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation is accepting proposals for two whitebark pine student research grants. The WPEF research grant provides $1,000 in funding to an undergraduate or graduate student (M.S. or Ph.D.) conducting research on whitebark pine. Relevant research areas include ecological threats, wildlife interactions, restoration strategies, ecosystem impacts and sociopolitical issues. The second research grant, which is funded by philanthropist John Van Gundy, awards $1,000 for research focused on whitebark pine dynamics under climate change.

Both grants are open to students enrolled in an academic institution in the U.S. or abroad. Funds are awarded for travel expenses for field work or consumable research supplies and cannot be used to purchase equipment. However, the Van Gundy funding may also be used for analysis.
