- The Sapphire Motel — budget/mid‑level, renovated, close to downtown
- Gallatin River Lodge — rustic, scenic, outside town, natural surroundings. Shoulder season pricing starting at $119/night per room.
- Residence Inn Downtown Bozeman — modern suites, kitchens, central, pet‑friendly
- Treasure State Hostel- Currently closed, but may be opening again in October. Beds starting at $32/night
Cabins & Camping in and around Bozeman
Many campsites close at the end of September, but we were able to find a few local options.
- Bozeman hot springs– small cabin ($135/night), tent ($75/night), and RV ($95/night) spots. Gets you access to the hot springs.
- BLM Campgrounds in Bear Trap Canyon area along the Madison River- This area is about a 30 minute drive to the MSU campus. Sites are First Come, First Serve after September 30th and more information is available on recreation.gov
- Trapper Springs (16 Sites)
- Red Mountain (18 Sites)
- Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park– The park is almost an hour outside Bozeman, but they have campsites ($18/night), cabins and wall tents ($50/night) available to rent. All campsites are First Come, First Serve after September 21st.
Food and Drink Recommendations
Breakfast
- Storm Castle cafe: Classic American breakfast. I love their biscuits and lotion and french toast.
- Jam!: Upscale breakfast downtown.
- Nova Cafe: Funky breakfast downtown, lots of local ingredients
- Granny’s donuts: Located next to Storm Castle, open Friday- Sunday, 7 am till they sell out. Their donuts are all homemade and delicious. Cash only!
- Wild crumb: Best pastries in Bozeman! I love their rosemary garlic sea salt bread
- Western Cafe: Classic American breakfast. Feels like you stepped back in time, very casual and yummy.
Coffee
Lunch
- Finks Deli: Sandwich and soup lunch located next to Wild crumb.
- Bozeman Food Co-op: For a super easy and quick lunch, I highly recommend the co-op grocery store. They have soup and bread and lots of snacks.
- Five on black: Local montana chain serving casual brazilian food. I love their cheese buns.
- The Pickle Barrel: Sandwich shop near campus
Dinner
- Shan: My current favorite restaurant in Bozeman. Try their green curry!
- Whistle pig: Local korean spot located downtown. I love their bibimbap and mochi cookies.
- I-hos: Another local korean spot. Casual and usually not much of a wait
- Blackbird Kitchen: Upscale italian spot. Reservation recommended. They have a changing seasonal and local menu.
- Little Star Diner: Upscale local menu, also a rotating seasonal menu. Everything I have had here is delicious. Reservation recommended.
- Sidewinders American Grill: mid-scale sandwich & pizza place.

Day trips
- West yellowstone: Located 1.5/2 hours from bozeman, it is the west entrance to yellowstone national park
- Gardiner/North yellowstone: Located 1.5/2 hour from bozeman, it is the north entrance to yellowstone national park
- Hyalite canyon: Located just 30 minutes from town there are a variety of trails and a reservoir to explore.
Other
- Museum of the Rockies. Located 5 minutes from campus, great local and dinosaur exhibits.
- Downtown art exhibits. Plenty of galleries to explore!
