Whitebark Pine Forever Restoration Fund

Join the Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation today in restoring whitebark pine across the West. The monies raised will be used to fund projects to keep whitebark pine on the landscape across its range.

Why is whitebark pine in peril? It is being killed by a bark beetle epidemic sweeping the west; white pine blister rust, a non-native disease is destroying this iconic tree’s cone producing capacity; other conifers are competing with whitebark pine for water and nutrients; and climate change is changing the entire high elevation ecosystem.

The Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation is teaming up with the Forest Service, BLM, Park Service and western ski areas to restore whitebark pine. Each year, the Forest Service funds $100,000 of whitebark pine restoration and research projects. The Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation is raising money to supplement those funds to increase restoration capacity in the western States.

How can you help? Donate now to fund restoration projects such as:

  • Plant whitebark pine seedlings
  • Collect whitebark pine cones for future seedlings
  • Grow blister rust resistant trees in whitebark pine seed orchards
  • Protect high value whitebark pine trees from bark beetle attacks
  • Remove other trees from growing whitebark pine
